Thighs lift

The thigh lift (internal or external) is a common plastic cosmetic surgery procedure that improves the appearance of a woman’s thighs. It also develops her self-confidence and has a positive impact on her life.

The thigh lift removes the excess skin and fat from the internal or external thighs, and in order to correct their droopiness. This technique creates younger looking thighs.

The loosening of the skin of the thighs increases with age. It may also appear after a significant weight loss.

Most women are very concerned about the appearance of their thighs, especially when they wear short dresses or bathing suits. Many of them opt for having this plastic surgery.

Surgical Technique of Thigh Lift

The ‘Minimal-Dissection’ technique is a surgical approach practiced by Dr. Fanous, which uses a limited dissection.

This is the technique performed in Montreal on our patients during the thigh lift surgery.

This technique cosmetic procedure, performed under local anesthesia with sedation, allows you to go home the same day.

Procedure Details

During the procedure of thigh lift, Dr. Fanous injects a local anesthetic solution into the operated areas, which makes them insensitive.

There are two types of possible incisions (scars) for the thigh lifts: internal and outer.

Internal Thighs

The main incision is horizontal and is hidden in the groin.

Another vertical incision, more visible, is often sometimes added to the entire length of the inner thigh. This vertical incision is usually indicated after weight losses resulting in significant excess skin in the thighs areas.

Outer Thighs

The primary incision is horizontal and is located above the external thigh.

This incision is used to remove the excess skin and fat from the thigh.

The duration of the this plastic surgery procedure is about two and a half hours.

Anesthesia

A local anesthesia with sedation is used during your thigh lift. Therefore, you will not have general anesthesia.

Recovery

Usually, post-operative pain is moderate or minimum after a thigh lift.

The scars are covered by a light dressing for a week following the this plastic surgery of the thighs.

It is often necessary to wear a special support garment around the thighs for several weeks following this cosmetic thigh surgery.

Most patients are back to work within one to two weeks after the thigh lift.

Stopping sport is recommended for 4 weeks.

Risks

As for any plastic cosmetic surgery, complications are possible but not common: infection, bleeding, excessive scarring, sensory changes, skin necrosis, asymmetry, numbness, pain, hematoma, seroma (fluid accumulation), muscle weakness, etc.

Smoking can increase the surgery risks and can reduce the healing rate.
If you smoke, we ask you to completely stop smoking during the two weeks before and two weeks after your plastic surgery of the thighs.
