BREAST REDUCTION
Reduction of a voluminous breast
Breast reduction is a surgery that helps reduce the volume
of a large and droopy breast. At the same time, it lifts the
breast and repositions the nipple.
The incisions, which are similar to the ones
used for a severely drooping breast, are used to remove the
excess skin, fat and breast tissue.
A circular incision 'peri-areolar' is done
around the perimeter of the nipple 'areola', followed by two
incisions: a vertical incision below the nipple and a horizontal
one in the skin fold under the breast. These two incisions take
the shape of an inverted 'T'.
Risks
As for any surgical intervention, complications are possible
but not common, such as injection, bleeding, excessive scarring,
sensitivity changes, cutaneous necrosis, asymmetry, numbness,
pain, etc.
