BREAST REDUCTION
Reduction of voluminous breasts
Breast reduction is a surgery that helps reduce the volume of a large and droopy breast. At the same time, it lifts the breast and repositions the nipple.
The incisions, which are similar to the ones used for a severely drooping breast, are used to remove the excess skin, fat and breast tissue.
A circular incision ‘peri-areolar’ is done around the perimeter of the nipple ‘areola’, followed by two incisions: a vertical incision below the nipple and a horizontal one in the skin fold under the breast. These two incisions take the shape of an inverted ‘T’.
Anesthesia
In general, local anesthesia with sedation is used.
Risks
As for any surgical intervention, complications are possible but not common, such as infection, bleeding, excessive scarring, sensory changes, cutaneous necrosis, asymmetry, numbness, mucles weekness, calcifications, etc.
